Why use a baby name book.
A baby name book is a good place to start because it offers you lots of ideas. You can browse through the book in alphabetical order, and derive the meanings of the names from a baby name book.
Other ways you can get baby name ideas.
Family and friends – Talk to your family and friends. Often, you find that they are just bursting with ideas, and they are glad that you are willing to seek their opinion. Write down all the ideas you hear, and see if there is anything you like. If there are a few names that you like, you can always go back and do more research on the names.
Baby names website – The Internet is another ideal place for baby name ideas. You can browse these sites like you browse a baby name book. Simply select the alphabet, and you will be presented with a list of baby names, together with the meanings of the names. You can print out the entire list, or bookmark the websites so that you can revisit them at a later date.
Celebrity names – Celebrity names are widely promoted, so you may have a few ringing in your ears. If there is name that you particularly like, why not adopt the name for your baby? The name will sound like music to your ears as you continue to call your baby by name many years down the road.

What is the name & author of some good baby books, that are about parenting & preparing for baby & so on?
They can be baby name books, parenting books, how to books on parenting, books about preparing for a baby, what to expect when having a baby, things about being pregnant, things about getting pregnant.
Thanks.
I bought what to expect when you’re expecting and thought it was pretty informative.
I’ll probably end up buying what to expect the first years as well
As for baby names I wouldn’t spend any money on that, You have a whole world of internet lol. babycenter.com is a really good site for baby names.

I enjoyed "Up the Duff" by Kaz Cooke and "Conception, Pregnancy and Birth" by Miriam Stoppard. Between them they had everything I needed to know and to prepare me for pregnancy and looking after my baby. Kaz Cooke is hilarious.

Dr. Sears has good books: The Baby Book, The Sleep Book, and The Vaccine Book are what I use. The Baby Book is very complete and discusses everything….
I had bought "What to Expect the First Year" and although it covers a lot of bases, the explanations are not complete or satisfying enough for me.
Dr. Sears considers a lot of issues and is a big supporter of "Attachment Parenting" (google it) and treating the child with compassion. Also, he is a supporter of co-sleeping.

Both are absolutely fantastic for both parents! they are little and inexpensive and FANTASTIC! I borrowed them from my midwife then bought them both even though I had practically memorized them!
Dr Sears and his wife wrote them.
Most midwives have a library of books and videos, perhaps look there for some ideas.
This is a pretty general question, it depends what kind of parenting you want to do, I think that what to expect when you’re expecting is very negative and pro medical intervention for the slightest thing, I don’t like being marketed to, and believe in attachment parenting… Maybe if you elaborate your parenting ambitions I could help better.

But I will advise…there is no point in following another person’s parenting style. You should follow your instincts and do things based on your own personal research.
